Silbersberg: Green Care, community-based networking and social integration in rural areas (SBG)

Description

People with disabilities in rural areas are often even more stigmatised than those in urban areas. By integrating nature, forest, and animal assisted initiatives (AAI), and fostering strong connections with local residents, Silbersberg promotes social inclusion of people with disabilities in the remote region of Lower Austria. This initiative does not only provide work and accommodation, but it also utilises rural synergies to enable high quality life for the people.

Aim

SBG investigates how this initiative enhances social inclusion and quality of life for individuals with multiple disabilities and the broader community, the factors that facilitate or hinder these efforts, and the role of policies in supporting or limiting the association’s work.
